I was in Manila for some work crap, so EJ and I got to chill for the first time since our online bromance started nearly, what, two years ago(?) or something. In real life, he’s nothing like his podcast self. He gets all uncomfortable when I start cursing out loud. “FUCK YEAH!!! NEXT WAVE IN TRADE!!!” Also… he punches random people. — John

Week Off
John is in Manila, away from all his nifty-fresh gadgets that he uses to create each kick-ass episode of Tres Komikeros. That leaves Alex and EJ to put together episode 13 on their own. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen technical difficulties and other crap… this week’s show will have to be scrapped. Here’s a glimpse of the conversation Alex and EJ had though:
Smile Pile 11.26.08
Batman #680 seems to have ended with us finding out who the black glove really is and the caped crusader falling into the apparently conniving clutches of one Jezebel Jet. Batman #681 comes out this week and concludes the R.I.P. storyline. I have no idea what to expect from EJ and Alex, but I will say those two better not fucking spoil! — John
Also coming out this week:
UMBRELLA ACADEMY DALLAS #1
BLUE BEETLE #33
FERRYMAN #3 (OF 5)
TEEN TITANS #65
SAVAGE DRAGON #141
HULK #8
RUNAWAYS 3 #4
ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #128

Cover of the Week – 11.20.08
Cover of the Week is my presentation of the best cover from last week’s comic book releases, based on the art, design, and overall good looks.
Hello again girls and boys, I’m back with my weekly thing of showing you the best among the best of the covers of comic books released last week. This time, my favorite is by the artist of another of my favorite books, Powers! Yes! The one and only, the Thor Killah!
Mice Templar #6 (Michael Avon Oeming)
Isn’t it pretty? HELLS YEAH IT’S PRETTY! I’m a big fan of Oeming’s work on Powers, it’s dark and gritty, and it’s not that messy compared to other dark and gritty styles. But on this book, he’s brought his art to a higher level! It’s darker and it feels more Mignolaesque. I guess it has to do with the characters being non-humans and he uses a lot of nature elements in the book accompanied by a shadows that give off a very epic fantasy warrior saga feel to it.
Runner-up: Thunderbolts #126 (Francesco “Matt” Mattina)
This was supposed to be this weeks winner, but I like Mice Templar’s cover more. But this one’s pretty sweet!
So, do you have your own picks for last week?
Tres Komikeros 12
Lotsa red in them covers, huh? This week, EJ, Alex, and John talk about Deadpool #4, Robin #180, and Amazing Spider-Man #578. John vents his anger about starting the show late due to internet failure but is quickly distracted by news about a new X-men film, updates from the set of KICK-ASS, camouflage pants (yeah…), and of course… hot women in comics.

Deadpool #3 ended with Wade giving Nick Fury the old switcheroo involving some apparently vital Skrull data. Who did he give it all to? Why, only the most trustworthy civilian in the Marvel U, Norman Osborne! Duh! D’oh!
Also out this week:
ROBIN #180 (last issue?)
TERRA #2 (OF 4) (BOOBIES!)
X-FILES #1 (OF 6)
FANTASTIC FOUR #561
UNCANNY X-MEN #504
YETI VS VAMPIRE #1 (really.)

Cover of the Week – 11.13.08
Cover of the Week is my presentation of the best cover from last week’s comic book releases, based on the art, design, and overall good looks.
Hello kiddies, it’s that time of the week again! And that means I have to wake up earlier than usual! FUN FUN FUN! Anyways, lets dive in to my favorite comics covers from last week, not like it’s of great importance, but it’s better than reading about dancing celebrities.
Batman Cacophony #1 (cover by Adam Kubert)
Sure, it’s not the strongest book last week, but this cover is what made me pick it up. I think it’s a good example of how a cover can influence readers (or buyers) into getting a book. Although Adam Kubert is not my favorite artist, he does pretty cool stuff. And ever since he (and bro Andy) moved to DC, I’ve notice an improvement in their art. I once read on Wizard that Adam loves Batman and likes to play with the light/dark elements of the character on art and story-wise. And I do agree that he’s able to do a pretty good Batman, I was wondering why he didn’t draw this book. It could’ve been better.
Runners-up! Fables #78 (James Jean), 100 Bullets #97 (Dave Johnson)
These two are among my favorite cover artists. Anything they cough out is good. Anything.
Panel of the Week!
Tres Komikeros 11
EJ, Alex, and John take time off from their usual earth-saving shenanigans to bless you guys with some comic reviews — Batman: Cacophony #1, Action Comics #871, and Wolverine (Old Man Logan) # 69. After a round of quick shots, the boys express their views about Beyonce wanting to be Wonder Woman, Brett Ratner’s Conan, and the absence of a squid in the upcoming Watchmen film.
In place of a panel discussion, a listener’s question from last week is answered, and don’t forget to check out the new profile page up top, right above the comments section.

Smile Pile 11.12.08
I am loving the Old Man Logan storyline by Millar and McNiven, so I can’t wait for Wolverine #69 to hit the stand this week. The last issue revealed the intentions of Hawkeye’s daughter/Rosario Dawson, so let’s see what Wolverine/Samurai X/Gandhi decides to do about it!!!
Not a big week for Marvel as far as I can tell, but here’s what else I can’t wait to grab this week:
CLEANERS #1 (OF 4)
ACTION COMICS #871
BATMAN CACOPHONY #1 (OF 3)
DETECTIVE COMICS #850
TITANS #7

What are you guys looking forward to?
Cover of the Week – 11.06.08
Cover of the Week is my presentation of the best cover from last week’s comic book releases, based on the art, design, and overall good looks.
This week’s cover is a no-brainer for me. Since the book’s so good and the art didn’t disappoint, it’s also safe to say that it’s the best issue of the week, and also the one with the best cover. So without further ado, ladies and gents, children and children of mind, I present thee, BIG ASS ROBOT.
Gigantic #1 art & cover by Eric Nguyen
What I like about this is that though it uses the classic “pyramid” format, Nguyen is able to portray a scene where there’s this big robot going through a city, people below are panicking, big robot is being attacked by flying things, and the best part is, you don’t know if the robot guy is angry/destroying the city, or is also running away from the flying shooting things like how the people under him are running away. It’s art with a mix of emotions accompanied with a warm-cool color feel.
Runner ups: Amazing Spider-Man #576 (Chris Bachalo), Final Crisis: Resist (Ryan Sook)
Bonus! Panel of the Week: Superman/Supergirl: Maelstrom #1
Ahh, life lessons from your friendly spooky bat-person.
Also… looky:
That’s all for this week!
